Musinaut and NeuroSky to partner in developing headgear - "Brainwaves" - for listening to interactive music in MXP4 format.

Brainwaves

The brain emits electromagnetic waves that are generated by electrical neuron activity. The frequency of these brainwaves can notably be correlated to certain states of mind or moods. A person’s mental activity can, in turn, be inferred when EEG sensors are placed on his or her head. While understood for some time already, the phenomenon was until now restricted to sophisticated medical procedures. NeuroSky recently began focusing its efforts on making this benign technology available to the general public.

Musinaut and the MXP4

Interactive music constitutes a new application highlighting interfaces between people and musical instruments.

The MXP4 format offers listeners numerous musical options, called Skins, which are displayed as buttons. The interactive element allows listeners to browse available musical moods depending on their own emotions and desires.

NeuroSky’s technology analyzes brainwaves, converting them to "understandable" values such as attention, meditation, drowsiness, etc.

By integrating Brainwaves to audio in lightweight headgear connected to its MXP4 player, Musinaut offers users an opportunity to control their MXP4 based directly on their thoughts and depending on their mood.
